iPad. At last, the long waited multi-touch Internet tablet, iPad is available for purchase. As with all Apple devices, hi-tech society camped in two sides. The people who states that it is a revolutionary step for the future of personal connectivity devices. The other camp supports that it is just a large screen iPhone and that's it. Let's now review the both sides' arguments and try to arrive a conclusion by looking at the advantages, disadvantages of Apple iPad and whether it will bring hot competition to already invaded Amazon Kindle ebook reading market and Internet tablet market in a general sense.

First of all; iPad had the all essential features which were already supported by iPhone. Internet browsing, photos, videos, email on a much larger screen with Multi-touch support. It is enough unless you are a computer expert, engineer or similar professional who would need to run advanced memory & computer storage consuming applications. An average user just needs actually just the essentials. Internet for search, email support and connectivity.

iBooks by iPad? It is the alternative presented to ebook readers who want to use iPad for book reading. Similar to Kindle Store but 9.7-inch LED-backlit screen seems to be only good for general purpose casual ebook readers. Amazon Kindle e-link technology is much much better to read ebooks similar to quality of printed books. So, let's forget how it will benefit to real ebook bookworms. They will stick on their already market-dominated large Kindle DX devices or at least to Kindle.

On the other hand, I should honestly state that current Kindle technology is not that advanced and as hardware development iPad can easily surpass them. Hardware is Apple's specialty while content is Amazon's. But, what Amazon can be afraid of its the development iPad with better hardware specifically for ebook reading. Note that iPad Kindle application than really be a Kindle killer. Publishers now can negotiate with Amazon with better pricing options for their ebooks on Amazon.

All applications available to iPhone is also supported by iPad. It is a very good thing. If you enjoyed playing games iPod or iPhone already, iPad will double the pleasure. Actually, I should state that  at least 4 times since it is like 4 iPhone connected to each other by glue! There are already more than 140,000 applications available at App Store and the release of iPad will surely motivate the SDK developers to produce more and more highest quality applications.

What about Internet experience. Safari browser. Actually, it is good with only one important function missing. Flash support ! Yeah, iPad doesn't support Flash while you browse the Internet. It will annoy you if you are used to browse sites which are powered by Flash. Flash dominated Internet media serving and Steve Jobs surely wants to destroy their market dominance. Even, once he blamed Flash stating that they are very lazy to develop new technologies. iPad believes certainly in HTML5 as the future of standards.

Thin, lightweight: 0.5 inch thin is a good start for iPad v1 which can run many applications and provide multi-functionality. It is a bit thicker than Amazon Kindle but note that iPad is not only for reading ebooks and embedded hardware is similar to netbooks with a special A4 chip.

Battery life is another good thing for iPad. Up to 10 hours support while watching power-emitting HD videos is not bad at all. I wonder how many hours iPad v2 battery will provide.

Connectivity : Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 3G and other standard connectivity options. We honestly knew that it would have these as standard. Which popular device doesn't have these options in today's smart devices?

iPad tv: Rumors are already increasing that iPad will puts its hands on multichannel video distribution market as well. Imagine to use iPad as a personal TV. Why not?
